FULL SCREEN

A group show on very big and very small screens! Wear art on your wrist!

Curated by Aram Bartholl

Save the date! Opening March 13, 2014

FULL SCREEN celebrates the evolution of the screen in its most extreme developments. Soon screens will disappear from our view and will be replaced by laser light projecting directly on our retina. Pixels in a rectangle will be history as a medium like oil painting as a media technique is history today. Ten internationally renowned artists will show screen based art works on a large LED screen and small smart watches at

the same time. It’s time to go FULL SCREEN!

View in Room

first parisian solo show by Evan Roth

PRESS RELEASE

opening 10th Oct – exhibition until 16th Nov

View In Room is the first solo show in Paris by American artist Evan Roth.

The title View In Room comes from a common feature of art-for-sale websites that allows the user to view a piece of art on a virtual wall. This collection attempts to more thoughtfully engage in bringing Internet-influenced art offline, while respecting the gallery and the Internet as two unique mediums.

Roth’s work explores the relationship between misuse and empowerment. Creating images, sculptures and websites, his work is informed by manipulating seemingly rigid structures and the effect that hacker philosophies can have when applied to non-digital systems.

from 9th of June XPO GALLERY propose an interactive exhibition to focus on how we are irreversibly fusing with aspects of our everyday life, handle intimate relationships, perceive our self-worth, enhance ourselves physically and mentally with new technologies ; new technologies is addressed through a catalog of ultra-sophisticated home automation equipments

Artists : Vincent Godeau, Vincent Broquaire,

Curator : Julia Coffre

We live in an age where very little of nature has not been touched by man, and technology is effectively an extension of our bodies and mind. Is it not time to question the inherited oppositions of man versus nature, man versus the machine, and even the physical versus the virtual? Reality has changed, but has our ability to realise that changed? xpo gallery think artists are here to comment on this new post-digital era.

The gallery relentlessly tries to break boundaries by mixing mediums and problematics, proving, if needed, that since the digital revolution art has still indeed its place in an exhibition space. the gallery approach of art is not technologically driven but focuses instead on the relationship our society maintain with the digital world.

The gallery is medium-neutral

The gallery does not support digital art but art at at the digital era, It is the insertion of this human component that makes the gallery relevant in the digital age.

The objective of the gallery is to build long-term relationships with artists, working with them as they mature in their artistic reflection and develop their expertise.

xpo gallery mixes a program featuring artists it represents with invitations to curators

CAPTURE , I will be your mirror – GREGORY CHATONSKY at CDA

The Internet has turned everybody into an artist. Anyone can now release online a video, a song or a movie for the entire world to see. This phenomenon has deeply affected the cultural industries, apparently still struggling to adjust to this new model. Grégory Chatonsky explores the limits of this model with I’ll Be Your Mirror, his new exhibition opening next month at the Centre des Arts of Enghien-les-Bains, near Paris. The entire show is based around a single project, Capturea set of generative machines producing autonomously the songs of a fictitious rock band, as well as its music videos, books and merchandising. The programs respond to each other and continuously create to the point that no human being can consume its entire production. Our desire for consumption is aroused but we soon realize that this quest for endless consumption has no point. Complex and sensible, Grégory Chatonsky’s exhibition will change your perception of the world we live in.

Soon screens will disappear from physical view and will be replaced by laser light projected directly into the eye’s retina. Entropie / Anthropie

Bringing together an exhibition across sculpture, performance and installation in creating “space, gaps, landscapes or scenes” of the conquered kind, the show, with its title suggesting themes of decay and human intervention, explores the hostilities of our “retro-futuristic present” by shaping its own environment. Much like the territorial hostilities of its own nature, Souviron presents the world of the imagination inhabited by a species that’s doomed to self-destruction

F.A.T MANUAL

F.A.T MANUAL

F.A.T MANUAL

In more than five years of activity, the Free Art and Technology Lab (F.A.T. Lab) produced an impressive series of projects, all developed with open source software, shared online and documented in a way that allows everybody to copy, improve, abuse or simply use them. This approach situates F.A.T. Lab in a long tradition of DIY, processual, sharable artistic practices based on instructionals, and reveals a democratic idea of art where Fluxus scores meet hacker culture (and rap music).

Featuring texts by Régine Debatty, Evan Roth, Domenico Quaranta, Geraldine Juárez and Randy Sarafan, The F.A.T. Manual is a selection of more that 100 projects, done in the belief that printing these bits on paper will allow them to spread in a different way, infiltrate other contexts, and germinate. An archive, a catalogue, a user manual and a software handbook documenting five years of thug life, pop culture and research and development.

F.A.T. Lab is an organization dedicated to enriching the public domain through the research and development of creative technologies and media. F.A.T. Lab’s greater network of artists, engineers, scientists, lawyers, and musicians are committed to supporting open values and the public domain through the use of emerging open licenses, support for open entrepreneurship, and the admonishment of secrecy, copyright monopolies, and patents. F.A.T. Lab was co-founded in 2007 by Eyebeam senior fellows Evan Roth and James Powderly. Over the past five years, the group has grown to include twenty-five artists, designers and hacker from 3 continents.

The F.A.T. Manual is co-produced by Link EditionsF.A.T. Lab and MU, Eindhoven in collaboration with XPO Gallery,
